在蓮生活佛盧勝彥文集「月光流域」，在「月光下的孤影」一文寫到：

「我發覺只有月亮與我為伴，月光流域裡我很孤單，我一直的走著走著，努力持續的走著。這裡很多的樹都很老了，有樹幹倒在地上的，有局部沒在土中的，有鬚藤纏繞的，有部份樹皮和裡層已經腐爛的。我彷彿也知道，這一次進到森林之中，可能會像那些老樹一樣，不可能再生長了，我驚覺，我是不是死了？我思維著生生死死的事，思維著輪迴，如果這是一種死的現象，延伸到無盡，這也是極其怖畏的事啊！」

英譯如下：

"I found that my only companion was the moon. Under the brilliance of moonlight, I felt lonely. I just kept on walking and tried hard to continue with the pace. Most of the trees were very old, trunks were lying on the ground with branches buried beneath the soil. Vines entwined some trees, while other barks and inner layers were rotten already. I seemed to know that by entering the forest this time, I would become like the old trees and would not be able to grow again. I had a frightening thought: Am I dead? I pondered on the subjects of life, death and transmigration. If this was a phenomenon of death that would extend forever, then it would be a matter of great fear!"
